Abstract

In the present work, the chemical bath deposition (CBD) of ZnO nanorods was studied. The effects of pertinent factors – seed layer thickness, temperature, initial Zn concentration and Polyethylenimine (PEI) level – were indentified in the presence of hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA). The uniformity (order), growth orientation and the length and diameter (aspect ratio) of ZnO nanorods were considered as the criteria for achieving the favorable conditions of the synthesis process. The size characteristics, texture and uniformity of the ZnO nanorods were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique was also employed for the phase characterization of the obtained ZnO nanorods.
