Abstract

Polymer structures have been demonstrated by elemental analysis and by comparison of the polyester IR spectra with those of model compounds. All the polymers prepared are fibre-forming. As a result of these studies, aromatic polyesters containing heterocycles have been synthesized. They have reduced melting points as compared with fully aromatic polyesters, and are soluble in o-chlorophenol. Basic laws governing synthesis have been described.
