Synthesis of the tetraphenylphosphonium and tetraethylammonium salts of tetrakis(benzeneselenolato)metalate(2-) [M(SePh)42], (M = manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel) and the structure of [NEt4]2[Fe(SePh)4].MeCN

Abstract

The syntheses of the PPh 4 + and NEt 4 + salts of the M(SePh) 4 2− (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) anions by reaction of the metal chlorides with LiSePh in the presence of the cations are described. [NEt 4 ] 2 [Fe(SePh) 4 ]•MeCN crystallizes with four formula units in the orthorhombic space group D 2 4 -P2 1 2 1 2 1
