Abstract

A novel magnetic nanocomposite, covalent organic polymer (COP)‐modified magnetic mesoporous MCM‐41 decorated gold (Fe3O4/MCM‐41/COP/Au) was fabricated easily via the modification of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles with MCM‐41, attachment of COP on Fe3O4/MCM‐41 surface via a solvothermal approach followed by reaction with HAuCl4. Various physicochemical techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), X‐Ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE‐SEM), transmission electron microscope, Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET), energy dispersive X‐ray (EDS), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and Simultaneous Thermal Analysis (STA) were applied to identify Fe3O4/MCM‐41/COP/Au nanocomposite. The resultant nanocomposite was utilized as a novel and robust nanocatalyst for the fabrication of bioactive oxygen‐containing heterocyclic compounds, tetrahydrobenzo[a]xanthen‐11‐one derivatives via three‐component one‐pot reactions with high yields (88–97%) under mild reaction conditions in ethanol solvent within short time (30 min). Moreover, Fe3O4/MCM‐41/COP/Au can be recovered and applied for six runs with a slight diminution in activity.
