Abstract
Synechoxanthin was isolated in 2008 from the cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. strain PCC 7002. It is being studied for its exceptionally strong antioxidant properties. The total synthesis is achieved here using an iterative cross-coupling approach for a rapid and stereocontrolled assembly of the polyene chain.
