Abstract
1. The reaction of carbon monoxide with normal and iso-C1-C7 aliphatic alcohols in the presence of mercuric acetate at 200–220° and an initial pressure of 100 atm was studied. 2. Symmetrical dialkyl carbonates are formed in yields up to 24% under the investigated conditions.
