Abstract

In this paper, In2Se3/CdSe nanocomposites are successfully synthesized and used for photocatalytic hydrogen production. HRTEM and XPS confirm the existence of heterojunction between In2Se3 and CdSe. The In2Se3/CdSe nanocomposite with a CdSe content of about 85.96% shows the best photocatalytic hydrogen production activity, and its photocatalytic performance is much better than that of In2Se3 and CdSe. The improved photocatalytic hydrogen production ability of the In2Se3/CdSe nanocomposite is attributed to the good visible-light absorption ability and the step-scheme heterojunction formed between In2Se3 and CdSe. The step-scheme heterojunction can significantly enhance the separation of photogenerated electrons and holes, thus improving the photocatalytic activity of the photocatalysts. This study provides a feasible method for the construction of step-scheme photocatalyst for hydrogen production.
