Synthesis of some of the simpler carbo cyclic derivatives of barene

Abstract

1. Some of the simpler carbocyclic derivatives of barene, containing three, four and five atoms in the exo-cycle, were synthesized from barene by reaction with the tri-, tetra- and pentamethylene bromides. 2. The cyclization of phenylbarenylacetic acid to 1,2-benzo-3,4-barenocyclohexanone was accomplished using polyphosphoric acid.
