Abstract

A new class of spiro-pyrimidinones, pyrazolidinones and isoxazolidinones are prepared from 4- cyano-4-ethoxycarbonyl-piperidines / tetrahydropyrans / tetrahydrothiopyrans.

Highlights

  • During the last one and half decades we have been actively involved in the synthesis of spiro heterocycles

  • In continuation of our sustained interest in this field, new, versatile and multifunctional reactive intermediates 3,3-disubstituted 1,5-diaryl-1,5-pentanediones have been reported. These compounds were used as synthons to get a variety of spiro-heterocycles.[7,8]

  • Dimethyl 3,5-diaroyl-2,6-diaryl- piperidine / tetrahydropyran / tetrahydrothiopyran-4,4-dicarboxylates were used as synthons for spiro-pyrimidinetriones, thioxopyrimidinediones, pyrazolidinediones and isoxazolidinediones.[13]
