Abstract

1. The condensations of propiolic acid and of butyne-1,4-diol with benzyl azide were investigated. 2. The condensation of butyne-1,4-diol with benzyl azide requires considerably severer conditions than the condensations of acetylenedicarboxylic and propiolic acids. 3. A study was made of the esterification of mono- and di-carboxylic acids of the v-triazole series with nitro alcohols, and it was shown that with increase in the number of nitro groups in the nitro alcohol the formation of the ester becomes more difficult.
