Abstract

Abstract: Synthesis of silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles was carried out using dense plasma focus technology with great potential for future industrial applications. The present work presents the synthesis and coating of aluminum metal with SiC nanoparticles using silica gel and acetylene gas. It also discusses the effects of molar ratio as well as the number of deposition shots on synthesis of SiC by dense plasma focus technology. The experimental results showed that SiC nanoparticles could be synthesized by the dense plasma focus technique. The SEM investigations showed a smooth surface with an average size of SiC particles of less than 1 μm with a SiC fiber-like microstructure.
