Abstract

Application of serial-fed arrays as the possible candidates for frequency diverse arrays (FDAs) is discussed in this letter. Periodic sawtooth frequency-modulated continuous waveform and triangular frequency-modulated continuous waveform (TFMCW) sources are considered as the input signals. Effects of periodic functions for the frequencies of input signal are indicated on the spatial patterns compared with common FDA with increasing and decreasing frequencies of elements. A measurement setup is proposed for the serial-fed FDA with periodic TFMCW sources. Expected receiving signals at different angles are also illustrated based on spatial power patterns for TFMCW FDA. It is indicated that distances between the maximums of the received signal are changing as the functions of angle.
