Abstract

RuAl/ZrO 2 nanocomposite is synthesized from elemental Ru, Al and ZrO 2 powders by mechanical alloying and subsequent annealing. RuAl is formed by an abrupt reaction during milling. ZrO 2 is observed to be distributed uniformly in RuAl matrix after subsequent annealing. The RuAl/ZrO 2 nanocomposite exhibits a strong thermal stability at high temperatures.
