Abstract

Heterostructures of PoPD/ZnWO4/FACs composite was successfully synthesized through hydrothermal self-assembly and photo-initiating method. The structure, morphology, optical absorption property and photocatalytic activity of products were investigated. The results revealed that the composites photocatalysts were composed of hollow core of fly-ash cenospheres, and shell of snowflake-like ZnWO4 nanorods modified with PoPD nanoparticles. The PoPD/ZnWO4/FACs composite showed strong absorption both in UV and visible light region and the band gap is changed to 2.69 eV correspondingly. It is found that the introduction of PoPD nanoparticles in composites leads to high separation efficiency of photo-generated electron-hole pairs and enhanced photoactivity in visible light. The degradation of hydrochloride pollutants by PoPD/ZnWO4/FACs under visible light is greatly improved compared with pure ZnWO4 and ZnWO4/FACs.
