Abstract

Type Cl 3 P=N(PCl 2 =N) n P(O)Cl 2 polymers were prepared by solution polycondensation of Cl 3 P=NP(O)Cl 2 . Monotoring the progress of the reaction using 31 P NMR spectroscopy allowed to determine an order of magnitude of the reactivity ratio for the species n = 0-3 and to propose a mechanism. The results enabled to prepare a range of polymers with an intrinsic viscosity in THF at 30°C varying from 10 to 72 mL/g and to establish the Mark-Houwink relationship in the same solvent.
