Abstract
1. The reactions of several aliphatic and aromatic halogen derivatives with mercury, have been intvestigated 2. It has been shown that reaction of halogen derivatives with mercury is activated by ultraviolet radiation and by benzoyl peroxide, a fact that is an argument in favor of a homolytic mechanism for these reactions. 3. It has been found that aromatic iodine derivatives, and also aliphatic and aliphatic-aromatic bromine derivatives, can react with mercury with formation of organomercury compound.
