Abstract
1. A method was developed for the synthesis of organofluorosilanes RnSiF4-n from the corresponding organo-chlorosilanes and potassium or ammonium hydrogen difluoride. By the method fourteen alkyl-, cycloalkyl-, and arylalkyl-fluorosilanes were obtained in 80–90% yield; three of these were previously unknown. When treated with KHF2 or NH4HF2, trichlorophenylsilane loses its phenyl group in the form of benzene. 2. Trialkylchlorosilanes can be converted into the corresponding fluoro derivatives in 50–60% yield by reaction with saturated aqueous solutions of potassium or ammonium fluorides or hydrogen difluorides. 3. Schemes are proposed for the mechanisms of the reactions studied. 4. A preparative method was developed for the synthesis of trialkylchlorosilanes by the reaction of the corresponding trialkylsilanes with titanium or tin tetrachoride.
