Abstract

One-step syntheses of a number of water-soluble sodium and potassium phosphino amino acid salts from primary arylphosphines (2,4,6-R 3C 6H 2)PH 2 (R=H, Me, Pr i ), formaldehyde and sodium or potassium glycinate, with unsubstituted and 2,4,6-trisubstituted aryl substituents on the phosphorus atom are reported. The structures of the disodium and dipotassium 1,3-di(carboxylatomethyl)-5-aryl-1,3,5-diazaphosphorinanes were established on the basis of IR and 1H, 13C and 31P NMR data.
