Abstract

Three novel diketopyrrolopyrrole-based molecules for potential application in dye-sensitized solar cells are synthesized starting from a common and easily available key intermediate with a bis-thienyl diketopyrrolopyrrole structure. The synthetic sequence is based upon transition-metal catalyzed coupling reactions involving commercial boronic acid followed by condensation reactions with 2-cyanoacetic acid. Absorption and fluorescence spectra of the molecules are also reported.
