Abstract

This article describes the synthesis, characterization and application of a novel hydrotalcite/aluminosilicate composite. The composite was prepared by in-suit synthsis of NiAl-HTLcs on the surface of the ZSM-5 and was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption measurements. The results show that the ZSM-5 phase in the composite was covered by a rough layer of NiAl-HTLcs. The specific surface area of the composite was larger than that of NiAl-HTLcs. When use in benzoin ethyl ether reaction, the composite showed higher reaction rate and better catalytic activities towrad higher conversion of benzaldehyde (56.54%) and selectivity of benzoin ether compounds (100%) in comparasion with the NiAl-HTLcs phase alone.
