Abstract

Abstract Treatment of the isopentenoids geraniol, farnesol, and lanosterol with an excess of iodine azide and lithium aluminum hydride results in the selective introduction of the aziridine function at the terminal and least hindered isopentenoid unit. Treatment of squalene in an analogous manner resulted in the formation of diepiminosqualene.
