Abstract

A two-stage method for the synthesis of a boron-containing complexone on the basis of aminomalonic acid was proposed. The products were studied by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, IR absorption spectroscopy, and ESI mass spectrometry at all the stages of synthesis. The product (NBu4)[2-B10H9NHC(CH3)NHCH(COOEt)2] was structurally characterized by singe-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complexation reaction between the borylated derivative of aminomalonic acid and Hf(NEt2)4 and Hf(OBu)4 was studied.
