Abstract
Narrow-sized, unagglomerated and spherical Ta2O5 powder was prepared by the controlled hydrolysis of tantalum pentaethoxide, Ta(OC2H5)5, in ethanol with a dispersant (hydroxypropyl cellulose) present. X-ray diffraction results showed that the as-prepared powder was amorphous and became crystalline after firing at 800° C in air for 2h. The particle size and the degree of agglomeration decrease with increasing hydroxypropyl cellulose concentration.
