Abstract
Abstract Mg 2 X (X = Si, Ge, or Sn) intermetallic phases have been synthesized by mechanical alloying of blended elemental powders for the first time. The phases produced have a cubic structure with the lattice parameters almost the same as those reported in the literature. In the Mg-Sn system, a metastable orthorhombic Mg 2 Sn phase was also observed in the as-milled condition.
