Abstract

The synthesis of mesoporous silica from waste of rice (MSWR) using starch extraction of waste rice in base condition by dual templating fusion method. The mesoporous silica from waste of rice (MSWR) was synthesized using starch from waste rice, tetraethyl ortho silicate and F127 as a co-template, a silica source and primary template, respectively. The character of themesoporous silica from waste of rice (MSWR) investigated by SEM and EDAX. The result show that mesoporous silica from waste of rice (MSWR) have letucce-like structure generated by the dual templating system using starch and F127. mesoporous silica from waste of rice MSWR after starch solution impregnation tested for ibuprofen adsorption which is reach equilibria condition at the first 20 min for room temperature with the maximum capacity at about 120 mg/g. This result successfully demonstrated that mesoporous silica from waste of rice (MSWR) have the possibility to be the new generation of carrier material in drug delivery system.
