Abstract

Abstract A comparison has been made of the incorporation in vitro of [14C]acetate into the lipids of leucocytes and red cells of human blood. In the course of incubation of whole human blood at 35° for periods up to 5 h, the lycocytes were responsible for all of the detectable incorporation into the unsaponifiable lipid and most of that into the phospholipid fatty acids. There was considerable incorporation into the neutral saponifiable lipid fatty acids of both leucocytes and red cells.
