Abstract

Layered dendritic carbosilanes containing triple bonds on the peripheral layer, double bonds in the ( n−1)th inner shell, and single bonds in the ( n−2)th inner shell were prepared. The synthetic pathways used iterative hydrosilation, alkenylation, and alkynylation. The fourth generation G4-E96PA is composed of two generations of propylene layers (G1 and G2) and one ethenyl layer in the inner shell (G3), and 96 ethynyl groups on the periphery (G4). The dendrimers are characterized by NMR, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, UV, IR, SEC and elemental analysis.
