Abstract

Polyaniline (PANI) was successfully synthesized in ice crystal as a reaction medium. The as-prepared PANI exhibited a lamellar structure that was imprinted from the ice crystal. Relatively high electrical conductivity was observed compared with that of PANI synthesized via the traditional method (synthesis at 0 °C). Synchrotron XRD measurements revealed that PANI prepared in ice crystal has the same molecular structure as that prepared in liquid medium, although the microstructure of ice crystal was transcribed to the resultant PANI. Morphological imprinting of resultant PANI from ice (water crystal) was confirmed with optical microscopy observations.
