Abstract

Hydrated CeO2 nanowires as thin as 5 nm in diameter and nanoneedles with various aspect ratios were obtained via a chemical precipitation technique in the presence of ammonium acetate. It was possible to control the particle size, shape and agglomeration by tuning the ammonium acetate concentration in the experimental solutions. The effect of ammonium acetate on the particle morphological parameters is discussed and a possible mechanism is suggested.
