Abstract

Trimethysilylcylocpentadiene-siloxy ethers Me 3SiC 5H 4(CH) 3 ( n = 2,3) react with TiCl 4 to give (2-(cyclopentadienyl)-eth-1-oxy) titanium dichloride, [[ η 5: η 1-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2O]TiCl 2] 2 and (3-(cyclopentadienyl)-prop-1-oxy(titanium dichloride [ η 5: η 1-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2O]TiCl 2, by release of two equivalents of Me 3SiCl. Molecular structure determination shows that [ η 5: η 1-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2O]TiCl 2 is a monomer with a bidentate cyclopentadientyl-alkoxide ligand. [[ η 5: η 1-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2O]TiCl 2] 2 crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pt 1 ̄ with a = 7.702(1) A ̊ , b = 7.942(2) A ̊ , α = 71.39(1)°, β = 89.92(1)°, γ = 61.25(2)°, V = 412.27(16) A ̊ 3 and Z = 1 . The basic structure consists of a dimer molecule with a crystallographic center of inversion, coupled by two TiOTi bridges. Crystals of [ η 5: η 1-C 5H 4(CH 2) 2O]TiCl 2] 2 are triclinic, space group Pt 1 ̄ with a = 8.194(1), b = 11.002(1), c =11.1921(1) A ̊ , α = 84.339(5), β = 88.035(5), γ = 76.256(6)°, V = 975.2 A ̊ 3 and Z = 4 . Two crystallography independent molecules are present in the asymmetric unit.
