Abstract

Treatment of triphenylphosphine with potassium hydrogen fluoride or hydrogen fluoride-pyridine and diisopropyl azodicarboxylate in acetonitrile or tetrahydrofuran, at room temperature results in the clean formation of difluorotriphenylphosphorane. Analogous results were obtained with other phosphines such as tributylphosphine and tris(dimethylamino) phosphine.
