Abstract

A composite of FeS nanoparticles embedded in MoS2/C nanosheets is prepared via a facile and scalable method using NaCl as a hard template. In the multichip structure, FeS nanoparticles are encapsulated in MoS2/C nanosheets. The carbon sheet prevents direct contact of FeS with the electrolyte and buffers volume expansion of FeS during the lithiation/delithiation process. The doping of MoS2 is of benefit to enhance the mechanical behavior of the prepared composite and plays a synergistic effect with FeS. As an anode active material tested in lithium‐ion batteries, the composite displays an excellent rate performance with a specific discharge capacity of 967.3 and 558.9 mAh g−1 at 0.2 and 5 A g−1, respectively. It delivers a specific capacity of 1008.3 mAh g−1 at 0.2 A g−1 after 100 cycles and 650.8 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 after 300 cycles.
