Abstract

<para xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> A record continuous-wave one-pump fiber-optic parametric amplifier was constructed using localized dispersion measurement of highly nonlinear fiber. Record 3-dB equalized gain bandwidth of 120 nm was measured for the first time. The second amplifier constructed using suboptimal segments of the identical fiber spool did not replicate the wideband performance, confirming the importance of accurate dispersion fluctuating fiber map. </para>
