Abstract

Dysiherbaine is an excitatory amino acid with potent convulsant activity that is isolated from the sponge Dysidea herbacea. It shows a strong affinity for KA classes of receptors and activates AMPA classes of receptors as well. Dysiherbaine is also capable of inducing long-lasting epileptic-like seizures in mice.
