Abstract
The reaction of [C 5H 4(CH 2) n X]Tl ( 1: n = 2, X = NMe 2, OMe, CN; n = 3, X = NMe 2) with [(η 6-C 6H 6)RuCl(μ-Cl)] 2, 2, afforded the sandwich compounds [{η 5-C 5H 4(CH 2) n X}Ru(η 6-C 6H 6)]PF 6, 3, and [η 5-C 5H 4(CH 2) nX] 2Ru, 4. Photolytic cleavage of 3 in acetonitrile afforded the tethered products [{η 5:κ N-C 5H 4(CH 2) n X}Ru(CH 3CN) 2]PF 6, 5.
