Abstract

Crosslinked polystyrene beads (prepared using 2 and 20% of divinylbenzene) were chemically modified to introduce benzoyl peroxide residues in which both of the aroyl groups were attached to the polymer backbone. Using these as initiators, methyl methacrylate and N, N-dimethylacrylamide were grafted onto the beads; attempts to graft on styrene derivatives were unsuccessful.
