Synthesis of coordinated carbon monoxide from isocyanide iron(II) compounds. Crystal structure of [Fe(dppe)(CO)(CN- p-tol)( p-tolNCN- p-tolC;N- p-tol)

Abstract

The compounds [ Fe(dppe)(CO)(CNR)(RNCNRC NR)] (IIa: R = Ph, IIb; R = p-tol= 4-methylphenyl) have been prepared by reaction of [Fe(dppe)(CNR) 4]-(ClO 4) 2 with KOH. The structure of IIb has been determined by X-ray diffraction IIb can be protonated in two steps with HClO 4 to give the cationic complex species { Fe(dppe)(CO)(CNPh)[PhNCNPhC (NHPh)]} [ClO 4] and trans-{Fe(dppe)-(CO)(CNPh) 2[C(CNHPh) 2][ClO 4]
