Abstract
Processes of thermal condensation in the mixtures CeO 2 and NH 4H 2PO 4 at 200–1400°C have been studied with the methods of differential thermal analysis, chemical and X-ray analysis, paper chromatography, and IR spectroscopy. Methods for obtaining double phosphates of cerium-ammonium Ce 3(NH 4) 2H(PO 4) 5, CeNH 4HP 3O 10, CeNH 4P 4O 12 (monoclinic), and Ce(NH 4) 2(PO 3) 5 have been elaborated. The structure of Ce(NH 4) 2(PO 3) 5 has been determined. The compound is monoclinic; unit cell parameters are a = 8.598(3)A˚, b = 11.733(3)A˚, c = 13.375(4)A˚, β = 90.48(2)°, Z = 4; space group Cc. Ce(NH 4) 2(PO 3) 5 is a polyphosphate with five tetrahedra in the identity period of the chains. On the basis of the obtained data a scheme for interaction of crystalline and amorphous heating products of the mixtures CeO 2 and NH 4H 2PO 4 dependent on the initial ratio of components P/Ce and temperature has been devised.
