Abstract

ABSTRACT Carbon embedded silica (CES) and zeolite (Z-RHA) from rice husk (RH) were manufactured to remove As (V) from aqueous solution. Characterization of newly manufactured adsorbents and adsorption study onto As (V) was conducted. Subsequently, effect of different parameters was investigated along with isotherms and kinetic models. Langmuir and Pseudo-first-order models were best fitted and adsorption was at definite localized sites with homogeneous enthalpies and sorption activation energy. The easy and green manufacturing process along with significant As (V) removal capacity of CES (96%) and Z-RHA (99%) makes them reliable to apply in environmental field comparing with other related adsorbents.
