Abstract
CdSe has been prepared by use of selenadiazole, an organic selenium compound in ethylene glycol. The reduction of cadmium chloride by ethylene glycol followed by consumption of selenium released from selenadiazole due to thermolysis has lead to the formation of CdSe. The bulk powder has been characterized by X-ray diffraction, reflectance measurement and SEM. The isolation of nano particles is currently underway.
