Abstract

Reducing greenhouse gas has been important issue in recent years. Directly capturing CO2 gas as a solid form is attractive method to reduce the greenhouse gas and uses as a natural resource. CaCO3 has been synthesized by bubbling CO2 gas into an aqueous Ca(OH)2 medium with NH4OH catalyst. The reaction occurred within 3min and significantly precipitated within 5min. The characteristic absorption peaks of CaCO3 at 1450, 875 and 712cm−1 were increased by increasing the amount of NH4OH. The size of spheres increased with increasing the amount of NH4OH. Using completely dissolved Ca(OH)2 with NH4OH catalyst is one of the effective method not only capturing CO2 greenhouse gas and use as a resource.
