Abstract

Multi-component [(Fe 1− x− y Co x Ni y ) 0.75B 0.25Si 0.05] 96Nb 4 glassy alloys were found to exhibit distinct glass transition over the whole composition range, followed by a supercooled liquid region (Δ T x) in the range of 40–65 K before crystallization. The saturation magnetization ( I s) is in the range of 0.3–1.1 T and coercive force ( H c) is in the range of 1–3 A/m. Bulk glassy alloys with diameters in the range up to 4 mm were successfully synthesized. The bulk glassy alloys also exhibit high Vickers hardness of 1100–1240, high fracture strength ( σ f) of 3700–4250 MPa, and high Young's modulous ( E) of 170–210 GPa combined with true elastic strain ( ɛ e) of 0.02 and true plastic strain ( ɛ p) of 0.0025–0.005.
