Abstract

1. A new method is proposed for the preparation of bisalkylxanthogen trisulfides by heating the corresponding disulfides with sulfur in a boiling water bath. 2. Under these conditions dialkyl disulfides do not react with sulfur. 3. Nine bisalkylxanthogen trisulfides and eight bisalkylxanthogen disulfides were synthesized; of these, bisoctylxanthogen and bisnonylxanthogen disulfides have not been described previously.
