Abstract

In this work, BaTiO3 templates were prepared by 3-step molten salt synthesis (3S-MSS) method using Bi2O3, TiO2, BaCO3, and mixed chloride salts (NaKCl) as the raw materials. A systematic study of the effect of oxide to salt ratio (O:S ratio=1:1, 1:3 and 1:5) on BaTiO3 templates formation isreported. The results showed that all the powders were single-phase perovskite structure with circular/cubic shapes templates as revealed by XRD and SEM analysis. The BaTiO3 templates were sintered at 1300 °C/3 hrs to obtain dense ceramics (≥ 90%). The structural, ferroelectric and dielectric properties of the BaTiO3 bulk ceramics were investigated by XRD, dielectric measurementsand P-E hysteresis loop and compared with polycrystalline BaTiO3 ceramics prepared by conventional solid-state reaction (SS) method.
