Abstract
ABSTRACT Colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) of Au:Cd were prepared via laser ablation in liquid with several energies of laser and then were deposited on porous-Si (PS). X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV - visible spectrophotometry and electrical attributes were used to characterise the obtained particles. From photodetector measurements, the spectral responsivity curves include three area; the first area represent absorption of UV light by Au:Cd NPs, the second area is due to the visible light absorption with the layer of PS and the third region to the absorption edge of the substrate Si. The higher responsivity of Au:Cd NPs/PS photodetector was found to be 2.66A/W for the sample prepared at a laser energy of 800 mJ/pulse that has the largest energy gap, and according to the quantum confinement effects, the size of NPs is smaller Thus, the surface area is greater and is also considered a major feature in improving the photodetector.
