Abstract
Poly(thiophene-co-phenylene) type π-conjugated polymers having two mesogens in monomer repeat unit were synthesized using the Migita–Kosugi–Stille coupling reaction. Thermotropic liquid crystal behavior of the series of polymers was examined with polarizing optical microscopy observations and differential scanning calorimetry. The produced polymers showed unique optical textures of smectic liquid crystal.
