Abstract

We reported an effective means to tailor electrocatalytic activity of Co3O4 for enhanced non-enzymatic glucose sensor by synthesizing three-dimensional porous structure decorated with Ag clusters and nanoparticles. The three-dimensional porous structure of Co3O4 is beneficial for glucose diffusion and contacting with active sites, and the presence of Ag nanoparticles on surface of Co3O4 not only increases electrochemical active area but also improves electronic conductivity. Therefore, the synergy between Co3O4 and Ag made the sensor exhibit outstanding electrocatalytic activity toward glucose with a wide linear range of 3 orders of magnitude, a high sensitivity of 1542.9 μA mM−1 cm−2 and a low detection limit of 0.3 μM.
