Abstract

A method is described for synthesising ladder networks in which each element may be assigned arbitrary loss, within limits. The networks may be terminated in resistances at one or both ends or they may be terminated in impedances consisting of a resistance and inductance in parallel. The networks are of the Cauer ladder type in which the transfer characteristics realised are rational functions possessing complex transmission zeros.
