The synthesis of 1α,25,28-trihydroxyvitamin-D 2 (1) from vitamin-D 2 is described. The synthesis involves three key features:() the dissection of the vitamin-D2 side chain, (ii) C-1 hydroxylation, and (iii) the preparation and introduction of the appropriate upper side chain.
