Abstract
The synthesis of the new ring system, 2,5-diphenyl-3,4-diazacyclopentadienone (1) has been achieved; it exhibits strongly electron-deficient behaviour in its formation of addition products with alkenes, alkadienes, and phosphines and in its oxidation of hydrogen chloride.
